'I think the best thing to do when you feel like you've 'painted yourself into a corner', is to stop! You may think that by squeezing out fresh paint onto the clean spots of your messy palette, you will break the spell and revive the Muse, but unfortunately this option rarely works.
However, take care not to completely stop your art practice and thereby indulge yourself in frivolous behavior. 

Work on your website, plan an open studio, set a date and invite 3 or 4 collectors and art lovers. Tidy a chaotic corner of your studio, read your notes or/and clean your brushes. 

Please, just don't ever stop doing art-related tasks. This impasse concerning a specific piece, could last a few days, months or even years! 

Start something new, try another neglected medium, study all the found objects lining your window sill, make some quick sketches, as long as you ACT and DO something, anything! you will be making remarkable progress.' - Aleta Michaletos

AFFINITY WITH THE BRAVE

'Sometimes you notice the actions of, or read the words written by others (mostly those you have never met before) and yet, you instantly feel an affinity with them in this parallel universe.
In this invisible reality, several fountains of wisdom, truth, compassion, humor, awareness, playfulness and creativity, flow into a communal pool, where you are able to recognize everything as being a part of who you are.
You easily find yourself admiring and identifying with those, who are unafraid of calling a spade a f*****g shovel.'

Some thoughts:

COSMORGANIC: Fusion of the cosmos (infinite) with the organic (finite).

'EMERGENCE': The butterfly or Papillon is the perfect metaphor for 'the organic'. 

The caterpillar withdraws from ‘visible’ life and entombs itself in its cocoon. Similarly the artist withdraws from life and entombs herself in her studio.

The place of withdrawal (death, social death) becomes the birthplace (place of transformation), from where the newly transformed, creation (Papillon or work of art), emerges.

Surrounded by chaotic order, it emerges in perfect, intricate simplicity, ready to fly into and ignite the imaginations of whosoever comes into contact with it.

The artist explores impossible acts of tolerance during the art/act of creation where TIME + TOLERANCE + APPLICATION = the intricate and methodical transformation of an idea and the subsequent emergence of an original work of art.

RE-CREATION

I have several unfinished paintings standing on a ledge and leaning against my studio wall. They are visible to me while I'm busy painting 2 smaller works for an imminent exhibition. I've also been photographing flowers and Autumn leaves in my studio and some remnants from a decaying floral arrangement, left over from Mother's Day. It's fascinating when one discovers (completely by chance) similarities in your paintings and the objects you are photographing. That is the moment creativity is sparked and a happy hour or two, can be spent re-creating, in the privacy of your studio.
